Mt. Zion firefighters were called the assist the nearby community of Harristown on a structure fire Saturday evening. The HFD requested our ladder platform. The ladder tower was used to extinguish the fire in the attic of the large home.
Mt. Zion firefighters train in the cold for ice related emergencies. Simulated person who fell through the ice. We put on ice rescue suits tied to a rope and use a rescue harness to pull the victim to shore.

Mt. Zion firefighters were able to use a house that was scheduled to be demolished for training on this day. Firefighters broke into crews and did several different drills to hone their skills. Hoses were stretched off of the pumper and drug though the home.

At 12:15 Mt. Zion fire District was dispatched to 5859 Gateway Dr. for a Structure Fire. Crews arrived to find fire showing from the attached garage of the residence. The fire was extinguished rapidly with the assistance of Long Creek Fire District and South Wheatland Fire District.
The Village of Mt. Zion Public Works Department is in the process of repainting fire hydrants. Fire hydrants that are located inside the fire district boundaries are owned and maintained by either the village of Mt.
Each year we set up our training maze so firefighters can practice getting through tight spaces. The training maze is designed to simulate a collapsed building, a possibility in any fire we encounter. Video posted was taken from an overhead view and sped up showing the path these firefighters take.

MZFD was dispatched 1:55 PM to 8704 Sheets Rd in Cerro Gordo for Mutual Aid to a house on fire. MZFD firefighters arrived to find local fire crews engaged in fighting a fully involved house fire. We assisted with fire extinguishment and extensive overhaul.

On February 1st Macon County will begin using a new system to alert residents of news and alerts for their area. Mt. Zion, along with Argenta, Oreana, and Forsyth have all contributed to this system so that each of their respective residents can be informed of things within their town.
Mt. Zion Fire responded to a semi tractor fire at the Fuyao Glass Plant west of Mt. Zion. Upon arrival we found the tractor was full involved. The tractor was not near the building and was quickly extinguished.
